In 2022  the Port Stanley Sailing Squadron is running their own sailing school.  It is important to register early in order to get a spot.

We intend to offer the program with Covid-related protocols in alignment with whatever local public health guidelines are at the time (masking where appropriate, distancing when possible, daily assessment for symptoms extra hand washing  etc. ) BUT if restrictions increase in August, we may have to cancel the program. If the club cancels the program, then the club will offer a full refund.  One change from 2021 is that the 10 to 16 youth students will be considered one cohort and any participant may end up sharing the 4 metre boat with any other student in the program.

Our expectation is that all participants will be fully vaccinated. We do ask a vaccination question in our registration.  If you have a specific question about our vaccination policy, then please contact the sailing club.

The PSSS Sailing school is an active hands-on program.  Much of the instruction happens in Quba sailing dinghies. Completing and submitting this form is the first step in registering for the PSSS Sailing School  in August of 2022. The second step is to pay the full fee up front. Acceptance of the full fee can be considered confirmation of registration although a follow up email will also be sent at a later date. More details about fee payments are in the notes at the end of the survey.

In 2022 there is one week worth of youth sailing offered in Port Stanley: August 15-19 from 9 am to 4 pm.  We recommend the youth sailing program for 10 to 14 year olds but we may consider taking 9 year olds.  It takes about 2 weeks of instruction to move up a level in the CanSail standards. The instructor in 2022 will be able to offer certification for "I Can Sail" - an introductory certificate, OR CanSail 1 in certain circumstances. Students can achieve the 'I Can Sail' level in one week. The cost of the youth program  is $450 per week per student. We ask that the payment is made up front.  We expect 10 - 12 youth spots each week. In 2021 all the spots were taken by the end of the winter so act fast! Participants will also need to pay approximately $20 to register their training with Sail Canada but this fee would be paid at the time of the sailing school in August.

There is also an evening adult sailing program that will be offered. The adult program consists of 4 three-hour sessions on Monday to Thursday of the same week.  The sessions are slated to happen from 5:30 to 8:30. Participants are advised to leave the evening of Friday August 19 open in case there is a need to switch a date. The cost of the adult program is $300. Participants in the adult program will also need to pay approximately $20 to register their training with Sail Canada but this fee would be paid at the time of the sailing school in August.
